Age of Empires III Settings

I noticed while playing Age of Empires III under Parallels that my settings weren’t saved. It turns out that the game uses a hard wired location for the path of user profiles. In short, your documents folder must be on the “C drive” or the game will not save your settings.

I had configured Parallels to “Share Mac user folders with Windows” which redirects the Windows documents folder to a network location. By turning this off, Windows uses a local profile on the primary drive instead and Age of Empires III is happy.

If you ever manually relocate your documents to another location you will experience a similar issue.
